Maternal Health

Health care for women and expectant mothers is often considered a “report card” for the strength of a health system—and for global action towards health equity and human rights. Unfortunately, our global society is failing: Every day, more than 800 women die from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth, with most of those deaths entirely preventable.

Believing in women’s rights as human rights, ERA HEALTHCARE focuses heavily on caring for women and expectant mothers. Around the world, we partner with ministries of health to improve health systems on behalf of women and their families. And across rural, underserved communities, we deliver comprehensive women’s and maternal health care to not only save lives, but also promote the right to health, safety, and autonomy among those marginalized by gender.

About Services We Provided No woman should die bringing life into the world. In epicenters of maternal mortality, we’re strengthening systems to make this idea a reality and advancing women’s rights with dignified health care.

Our mission is to support people living in epicenters of maternal mortality, where women die of preventable causes during pregnancy and childbirth. We provide training and technical support to local health workers, and advocate for evidence-based interventions that save lives.

How we Respond

No woman should die bringing life into the world. But every day, women do. In epicenters of maternal mortality, we’re strengthening systems to make this idea a reality. In our local communities we’re advancing women’s rights with dignified health care including skilled providers, clean equipment and quality supplies.

We believe that access to maternal health care is a basic right. We work in the most underserved communities to advocate for women and families, strengthen health systems, and build sustainable partnerships with organizations.
